Leah was a woman who lived
her early years always in reaction; she guided her life from the back
seat and accepted what came to her. After her father tricked Jacob into
marriage with her, she settled for always being less and second to her
beautiful loved sister.
It took many years before
Leah could see the strength that she possessed from her endurance. Strength
that the other women in the harem did not have because of lack of experience,
dissapointment, fear and troubles. Leah found herself as the eldest,
wisest and strongest one day and then she allowed her femininity and
sexuality to bloom. She then bore the only daughter to Jacob, Dinah.
Leah bloomed as an older woman; she became wise, sexual and beautiful.
I combined two polarities
of women to give them back their femininity. To do this I used pornographic
images of sexual icons and whores to draw from and combine them with
the righteousness of religious and historical figures that have been,
or are close to being, canonized. I want to bring back the feminine
to morality and morality to the feminine. Living in polarities is destroying
us as women. We don't have to be Male to Succeed, we don't have to be
labeled Sluts to be sexual, and we don't have to be Saints to be deemed
"Good Women" by society.
