Each painting
is inspired by a woman. The figures in the paintings are
moving – telling their stories with movements. Some are stories
of women I am very close to and some are of women I only meet for a
few brief moments. The movements in the paintings are Effeminate. Although
the story is influenced by one woman’s history of movements, she
is the collective woman and the collective is she.
About being Effeminate
. Some of my women are erotic and powerful women, in celebration.
I work for seeing the day that women learn to be women again and live
the differences between men and women. There is no such happiness in
equality if equality uses only one sex to register qualifications of
what equality represents. Women are different and need to rediscover
the pure joy of living this difference.
About Powerful
beauty. I paint the women who struggle in this idea. Some
are lovers, mothers, warriors, martyrs, bearers, healers, and some are
dreamers. I want that women look at powerful beauty and say, "yes,
I know this story.” I want men to look at the power of Female
and say, “that is Femininity”. I need it, I want (to experience)
it, I respect it, I will protect it, she is our women.
Women cannot,
(shall not) be men, they have no business in doing (cannot do) maleness.
To become male with female power creates horrible inequalities –
not equalities - and kills our spirit as women. We must be Women again
and men shall learn to be Men again. It is in our collective being,
our blood flows with the earth's movements, our hearts pump with the
cores heat, we are passion, we breath life into everything we make,
but if you make this undone my dear women, we suck the life from our
very beings. Women have the power to recoil life or to empower it.
